El Nido
El Nido is the crown jewel of Palawan, famous for its towering limestone karst cliffs, hidden lagoons, and pristine white-sand beaches. Located at the northern tip of mainland Palawan, it serves as the gateway to the Bacuit Archipelago, a stunning collection of 45 islands and islets.
The town itself is a laid-back beach community with a growing food scene, beachfront bars, and a vibrant mix of backpackers, families, and luxury travelers. Island-hopping tours (A, B, C, D) are the main attraction, each visiting different combinations of beaches, lagoons, and snorkeling spots.
Beyond the tours, El Nido offers world-class diving, kayaking through secret lagoons, cliff climbing, and some of the most photogenic sunsets in Southeast Asia.
Town Proper: Budget-friendly, walkable to restaurants and tour boats. Can be noisy.
Corong-Corong: 10 minutes south. Quieter, beachfront resorts, great sunset views.
Nacpan Area: 30 minutes north. Remote, peaceful, stunning beach. Limited dining options.
Lio Estate: Near the airport. Upscale resorts, curated beach experience.

El Nido Island Hopping Tour A
Tour A is the most popular island hopping tour in El Nido, visiting the iconic lagoons and snorkeling spots of the Bacuit Archipelago. The tour includes Big Lagoon, Small Lagoon, Shimizu Island, and a beach stop: four of the most spectacular locations in El Nido. Boats depart from the town beach between 8:30-9:00 AM and return by 3:00-4:00 PM. Lunch is included (grilled fish, rice, fruit) and eaten on the boat or at a beach stop.
El Nido Island Hopping Tour C
Tour C explores the outer islands of the Bacuit Archipelago, visiting hidden beaches, caves, and snorkeling spots. It's considered by many locals and repeat visitors as the best tour, with more varied stops and generally fewer crowds than Tour A. The tour includes Secret Beach, Hidden Beach, Helicopter Island, and Cathedral Cave, each offering a unique experience. The boat ride is longer than Tour A, but the stops feel more adventurous and less commercialized.
Puerto Princesa to El Nido
The busiest road in Palawan, connecting the capital to El Nido. Shared vans leave San Jose Terminal roughly hourly through the day; Cherry Bus runs the same route cheaper (₱651–998) and slower (~6 hrs) with seats you can actually sleep in.The road is fully paved. Vans stop once for lunch around Roxas; beyond that, it's rice paddies, karst, and coastline.
North Palawan Classic
The definitive first-timer's week: land in Puerto Princesa, work up the west coast through Sabang and Port Barton, finish big in El Nido, and sail out to Coron. One direction, no backtracking.Budget assumes shared vans, mid-range rooms, and the headline tours. Move the El Nido days to a kayak-your-own pace and it drops fast.
