Taraw Cliff
Taraw Cliff is the ultimate viewpoint in El Nido: a challenging climb up razor-sharp limestone karst that rewards you with a 360-degree panorama of the entire Bacuit Bay, the town, and the surrounding islands.
This is NOT a casual hike. The ascent involves scrambling up near-vertical limestone using ropes and your hands. The rock is extremely sharp (nicknamed "knife rock") and gloves are essential. The climb takes 20-30 minutes up and about the same down.
At the top, the view is absolutely breathtaking: you can see the entire chain of limestone islands stretching to the horizon, with the turquoise waters of Bacuit Bay below. Sunrise climbs are popular for photography.

Arrange a guide the day before at the tourism office or through your hotel. Required guide fee is P500.

Meet your guide at the base of Taraw Cliff (behind the church in town) early in the morning. Sunrise starts around 5:30 AM.

The scramble takes 20-30 minutes. Use the ropes provided and wear gloves. Some sections are near-vertical.

At the summit, enjoy the panoramic view. Bring water and take your time. The descent is trickier than the ascent.
