About
Papaya Beach is one of the stops on Tour D: a quiet stretch of white sand backed by tropical vegetation with natural shade. It's a more relaxed, undeveloped alternative to the busy Tour A beaches.
The beach has good swimming in calm, shallow water. Snorkeling is decent near the rocky edges. Most tour boats use this as a lunch stop, grilling fresh fish on the beach while you relax in the shade.
The name comes from the papaya trees that grow along the shoreline. It's one of those simple, beautiful places that sticks in your memory.
How to get there

Papaya is a small cove on the mainland just east of Seven Commandos Beach, and there is no road to it. You arrive by water.

The cheapest way is to rent a kayak on Corong-Corong beach, around P300 to P400 an hour, and paddle across in 20 to 30 minutes.

If the water is choppy, hug the coastline rather than cutting across open water, and set off early before the afternoon wind builds.

Otherwise ask an island hopping boat to stop, or hire a private boat, which is about a 15 minute crossing.

Local tip
Ask your boatman to grill lunch here. Eating fresh fish on the beach with your feet in the sand is the real El Nido experience.
