Puerto Princesa Underground River
The Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature. The highlight is an 8.2-kilometer navigable underground river that flows through a dramatic limestone cave system before emptying into the South China Sea.
Visitors take a 45-minute guided paddle boat through 1.5km of the cave (the rest is restricted). Inside, you'll see massive stalactites and stalagmites, cathedral-sized chambers, and hundreds of bats. The cave formations are truly spectacular, with some chambers 60 meters high.
The park is located in the town of Sabang, about 1.5-2 hours from Puerto Princesa city. Advance booking is required as daily visitor numbers are limited.
