Taytay

Palawan's first Spanish capital, wrapped around a bay guarded by a 17th-century stone fort. Today it's a fishing town most travelers speed past between El Nido and Puerto Princesa, which is exactly why it's worth stopping: the fort, Palawan's largest freshwater lake, and dolphin-watching in Malampaya Sound.

Puerto Princesa to El Nido

The busiest road in Palawan, connecting the capital to El Nido. Shared vans leave San Jose Terminal roughly hourly through the day; Cherry Bus runs the same route cheaper (₱651–998) and slower (~6 hrs) with seats you can actually sleep in.The road is fully paved. Vans stop once for lunch around Roxas; beyond that, it's rice paddies, karst, and coastline.
