About
Nagtabon Beach is the local secret of Puerto Princesa: a beautiful golden sand beach about 45 minutes west of the city that sees very few tourists. The beach is framed by green hills and has gentle waves suitable for swimming and body surfing.
Unlike the tourist-oriented beaches, Nagtabon has a genuine local atmosphere. Weekdays are practically empty; weekends bring Filipino families for picnics. There are a few basic food stalls and cottages for rent.
The drive to Nagtabon passes through a scenic mountain road with views over the coastline. Best visited by motorbike for the flexibility to stop at viewpoints along the way.
Local tip
Go on a weekday for an almost private beach experience. Bring your own food and drinks since the stalls are limited.
