Iwahig Firefly Watching
The Iwahig Firefly Watching tour is one of Puerto Princesa's most magical experiences. As darkness falls, you board a small paddle boat and glide along the Iwahig River, where thousands of fireflies light up the mangrove trees like living Christmas lights.
The effect is genuinely breathtaking: entire trees pulsing with synchronized bioluminescent light reflected in the dark water. The guides paddle silently to minimize disturbance, creating an almost meditative experience.
Tours depart at sunset (around 6:00-6:30 PM) and last about 45 minutes to an hour. The experience is best on moonless nights when the firefly glow is most visible.
