About
Maosonon Island is one of the highlights of the Linapacan island group: a remote island with pristine white sand beaches, crystal-clear water, and virtually zero tourism development. A small fishing community lives on one end of the island.
The snorkeling around Maosonon is exceptional. The reef is completely untouched by tourism and teems with marine life: giant clams, sea turtles, rays, and enormous schools of fish are common sights. The coral coverage is some of the healthiest in the Philippines.
Expedition boats between El Nido and Coron typically stop here for snorkeling and beach time. The community is welcoming and it's possible to camp on the beach with permission.
Local tip
The reef on the west side of the island has the best coral coverage. Ask the expedition crew to anchor there for snorkeling. Bring reef shoes for the rocky entry.
