Shimizu Island

Snorkeling Easy island-hopping tour-a snorkeling marine-life

Shimizu Island (named after a Japanese diver) is one of the top snorkeling destinations in El Nido. The island features dramatic limestone cliffs on one side and a protected coral garden on the other, creating perfect conditions for marine life.

The coral reef here is among the healthiest in the area, with colorful table corals, brain corals, and sea fans. You'll commonly see clownfish (Nemo!), parrotfish, angelfish, sea turtles, and sometimes reef sharks in the deeper waters.

Part of Tour A, Shimizu is often a highlight that catches people off guard: they come for the lagoons but leave raving about the snorkeling here.

Local tip
Bring your own mask and snorkel if possible, since the rental ones on tours can be foggy. Stay near the cliff wall where the coral is healthiest.
