Sangat Island

Diving Moderate diving wreck island resort snorkeling

Sangat Island is a small island southwest of Coron town with a single eco-resort and some of the most convenient wreck diving access in the area. Two WWII wrecks (the Sangat Maru and a smaller gunboat) sit in the bay right off the island, accessible as shore dives or short boat rides.

The island itself is covered in dense tropical forest with a small beach and pristine reef for snorkeling. The house reef is excellent for night diving. The resort is the only accommodation, giving it an exclusive, peaceful atmosphere.

For divers, staying on Sangat means unlimited access to two wrecks without the daily boat commute from Coron town. For non-divers, the snorkeling and island tranquility are enough reason to visit.

Local tip
Consider staying at the Sangat Island Dive Resort for 2-3 nights if you're a serious diver: unlimited shore diving on two wrecks plus excellent house reef.
