About
Maquinit is a natural saltwater hot spring (a rarity worldwide) where volcanically heated water fills a set of cascading stone pools right at the edge of the sea, with a mangrove boardwalk running along the shore.
The water holds a steady 38–40 degrees. Entrance is ₱200, and the ride out is half the experience: a bumpy tricycle track through hills and mangrove flats east of town.
It's the standard finish to an island-hopping day: a hot soak does remarkable things after hours of swimming and boat benches.
Local tip
Go after dark. At midday the 40-degree water plus tropical sun is punishing; at night it's perfect and the crowd thins out. Agree on a round trip with your tricycle driver (about ₱300) and have them wait; there's no passing traffic to flag out there.
