Atwayan Beach is Coron's local beach: a calm stretch of sand about 15 minutes from town by tricycle. Unlike the island-hopping destinations, Atwayan is free, accessible by land, and almost entirely visited by locals.
The beach is backed by mangroves and has calm, shallow water good for swimming. It's not the most dramatic beach in Palawan, but it's pleasant and peaceful, a good option for a free beach day between island-hopping tours.
A few simple food stalls sell snacks and drinks on weekends. The beach is busiest on Sunday when local families come for picnics.
Local tip
Go on a weekday for a nearly private beach. Bring your own food and drinks, as facilities are minimal. Good for a quiet morning swim before afternoon island hopping.
