About
Candaraman Island is home to one of the rarest beach phenomena: naturally pink sand. The pink color comes from crushed red organ pipe coral mixed with the white sand, creating a soft pastel pink hue that's most visible in the morning light.
The island is tiny, uninhabited, and surrounded by pristine coral reefs. The water is incredibly clear with excellent snorkeling right off the beach. Combined with the unique pink sand, it's one of the most photogenic spots in all of Palawan.
Like all Balabac islands, reaching Candaraman requires a multi-day expedition from Puerto Princesa, but it's a highlight that makes the long journey worthwhile.
Local tip
The pink color is most visible when the sand is wet (at the waterline) and in early morning light. Bring a waterproof camera.
