Elephant Island (Pabellon Island)
Elephant Island is the local name for Pabellon Island, part of the Pabellones group of limestone islands in Taytay Bay. It has small white-sand coves, coral close to shore and a lagoon tucked inside the cliffs.
The cliffs are home to swiftlets whose nests are harvested as the edible bird's nest delicacy, and in season you may see collectors climbing the rock. The Pabellones are the main stop on Taytay's island-hopping routes, usually combined with nearby Castle, Dinamayan and Calabadian islands.
The scenery is similar to El Nido's karst islands, with a small fraction of the boats. Most visitors hire a bangka for the day from Taytay port, next to Fort Santa Isabel.

Get to Taytay town by bus or van from El Nido (1.5 to 2 hours) or Puerto Princesa (4 to 5 hours).

Go to Taytay port, next to Fort Santa Isabel, and arrange a bangka with a boatman, or book the day before through your guesthouse.

The ride out to the Pabellones takes about an hour. Most boats also stop at Castle Island or another snorkelling spot.

Tours usually run from about 8am to 4 or 5pm, weather permitting.
