About
San Vicente's public market is tiny compared to city markets, but it's the best place to experience local life and find cheap, fresh food. Morning is the busiest time when fishermen bring in the catch and farmers sell fresh produce.
Fresh fish, squid, and shrimp are available at wholesale prices, far cheaper than any restaurant. Several small eateries (carinderias) inside the market serve home-cooked Filipino meals for P50-80.
The market is also where you'll find local snacks, dried fish, and basic supplies. It's a good stop to pick up provisions if you're heading to Long Beach or Port Barton.
Local tip
Go in the morning (6-8 AM) for the freshest fish. The carinderias serve breakfast. Try tapsilog (beef tapa, rice, and egg) for P60.
