Coron's public market is the go-to spot for budget travelers and anyone wanting authentic Filipino food. The second floor has a row of eateries (carinderias) serving home-cooked dishes: adobo, sinigang, grilled fish, and rice meals for P60-120.
The ground floor sells fresh produce, meat, and seafood. You can buy fresh fish, shrimp, or lobster and have it cooked at one of the upstairs stalls for a small cooking fee (P50-100). This is by far the cheapest way to eat lobster in the Philippines.
The market is busiest in the morning and at lunchtime. It's also where locals shop for daily groceries.
Local tip
Buy fresh lobster downstairs (P300-500/kg depending on season) and have it grilled upstairs for P50-100 cooking fee. Cheapest lobster dinner you'll ever have.
