Cagdanao Island has been scientifically measured as having some of the clearest water in the world, with visibility regularly exceeding 30 meters. Looking into the water is like looking through glass: boats appear to float in mid-air, a phenomenon that has made Linapacan famous on social media.
The island has a small fishing community and white sand beaches. The surrounding reef is pristine and teeming with marine life: sea turtles, reef sharks, and enormous schools of tropical fish thrive in these protected waters.
Most visitors experience Cagdanao as part of a multi-day expedition boat trip between El Nido and Coron. Independent visits are possible but require arranging a boat from San Miguel town.
Local tip
Take a photo of your boat from above at midday. The 'floating boat' effect from the incredible water clarity is the iconic Linapacan shot. Bring an underwater camera.
