Must visit Lake Moderate island-hopping swimming snorkeling photography must-visit

Kayangan Lake is consistently voted the cleanest lake in the Philippines and one of the most photographed spots in Coron. The trek up from the dock involves about 160 steps (10-15 minutes), but the view from the top, and the lake below, make it absolutely worth it.

The lake water is an otherworldly mix of fresh and saltwater, with visibility exceeding 10 meters. The underwater landscape is as dramatic as above: submerged limestone formations create an ethereal swimming and snorkeling experience.

The viewpoint at the top of the trail, before you descend to the lake, offers the iconic Coron photo opportunity with the limestone islands and turquoise bay spread out below.

  1. Join an island hopping tour from Coron port (P1,500-2,500/person). Kayangan Lake is typically the first stop.
  2. From the dock, climb approximately 160 wooden steps. Stop at the viewpoint at the top for the iconic photo.
  3. Descend to the lake. Enter the water carefully, as the rocks can be slippery. Life jackets are available.
  4. Swim and snorkel around the submerged limestone formations. The visibility is incredible.
